The drug misuse situation in Punjab was depicted in the Punjabi film Dakua Da Munda. The sequel, Dakuan Da Munda 2, will be released in theatres on Friday.

The sequel is based on the life of renowned author and instructor Manga Singh Antal, who has authored a book about his battle with drug addiction called Naughty Tots.

Dev Kharoud and Japji Khaira play the key parts, with Nishawn Bhullar, Raj singh Jhinger, Lucky Dhaliwal, Preet Baath, Balwinder Bullet, and Karanvir Khullar rounding out the cast.

While Japji declares that her favourite Dev dialogue from the film is ‘Tod enne vi ni vajje ki tod na sakan.’

“We had gone over and over the sequences and talked it at length,” Dev says of the thought process that went into the trailer. On one scene, the director and I couldn’t agree.”

“I wanted it to end on a different note, portraying the wife’s struggle with a drug addict husband, but I’m delighted we chose the proper scene for the trailer’s final scene.”

Japji Khaira, on the other hand, is reprising her role as a wife and mother following Ardaas 2.

“It was more difficult this time since I had to lose 12kg of weight to play a college student who is also a volleyball player,” she explains.

While Dev is enthusiastic about the idea, he also stated, “We did not try to present the character as the protagonist even once in the film.” My character is a drug addict that gets into fights in college. Even after having a family, he refuses to change his ways.”
